SHIMLA: The Himachal government has constituted a committee of officers for restoration and safety of water our bodies. Director, atmosphere, science & expertise has been declared the nodal officer to make sure compliance with the instructions handed by Nationwide Inexperienced Tribunal (NGT). The committee will monitor motion plans associated to 6 prioritised lakes specifically, Govind Sagar, Pong Dam, Renukaji, Rewalsar, Khajiar and Dal lake.
The nodal officer will convene the primary assembly of the committee on or earlier than February 25. Thereafter, common conferences can be held to watch identification, assigning of distinctive identification quantity, removing of encroachments, dumping of waste, sustaining water high quality and restoration by taking acceptable steps with the involvement of panchayats and the area people.
On November 18, the NGT directed all states/UTs to designate a nodal company for restoration of water our bodies wherever no such company had been designated. It acknowledged that the nodal company would maintain its assembly not later than January 31, 2021 to take inventory of the state of affairs and plan additional steps, together with instructions to district authorities for additional motion as much as panchayat degree and to evolve monitoring and grievance redressal mechanism (GRM).
In pursuance to the above order, the federal government has declared the director, atmosphere, science and expertise as nodal company for restoration and safety of water our bodies.
The notification issued by the chief secretary mentioned the director, atmosphere, science & expertise would be the nodal officer and can be chargeable for conveying acceptable instructions of the committee to district authorities.
