The Mortal Kombat film will arrive on HBO Max and in theaters on April 16, 2021, and we recently got a closer look at the film that may also star Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Josh Lawson as Kano, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Max Huang as Lung Lao Max, and Lewis Tan as an all-new character named Cole Younger.
This movie is a reboot and can see Younger, who’s a “washed-up MMA fighter” and bears a birthmark within the form of the Mortal Kombat image on his chest, meet up with Sonya Blade. She then leads him to the temple of Lord Raiden the place he comes into contact with a bunch of highly-skilled fighters.
“After we first meet Cole, he is in a extremely unhealthy spot,” Tan mentioned. “He is down on his luck. He is type of a washed-up MMA fighter who was a champion, who used to imagine in himself, who used to have numerous hope in his profession. And it is all gone down the drain. It is a very fascinating place for a hero to start out, and I feel that, alongside the journey of Mortal Kombat and Cole discovering the place he comes from, you are launched to all these different iconic characters and components that everyone loves so dearly.”There may also be some “loopy fatalities” within the movie that may make followers of the franchise very comfortable.
“There are some loopy fatalities,” added Tan, who carried out his personal stunts on set. “We have picked a few iconic ones. There’s numerous actually cool signature strikes that you will see, numerous Easter eggs that we snuck into the movie, however there are some actually badass fatalities that I am unable to wait to see on the massive display screen. They’re brutal, man. They, they do not maintain again.”
